THE ORIGIN Frankincense trees grow wild in Somalia, North Africa. Other varieties are cultivated in Oman, Yemen, South Saudi Arabia, Western Ethiopia and Western India.
WHAT EXACTLY IS FRANKINCENSE? Frankincense is an aromatic resin, the sap of the Frankincense tree. The Essential Oil is extracted through steam distillation of the resin.
(For the perfume industry, a resinoid absolute is produced through solvent extraction.)
