Fever blisters are caused by a contagious virus called herpes simplex. Most people infected with the type 1 herpes simplex virus became infected before they were 10 years old. The virus usually invades the moist membrane cells of the lips, throat or mouth and stays in the body. Recurring blisters usually erupt at the outside edge of the lip or the edge of the nostril, but can also occur on the chin, cheeks, or inside the mouth.

Factors that weaken the body’s immune system and trigger an outbreak include: emotional stress, fever, illness, injury and exposure to sunlight.

We have developed a highly effective and anti-viral Essential Oil blend for herpes simplex using Tea Tree and Melissa Essential Oils, we add Lavender for it’s soothing and anti-inflammatory, and Geranium for it’s balancing and healing properties.

Application:

• apply 1 drop undiluted to the affected area 3 times a day for the first 24 to 36 hrs of outbreak until the blister dries up

• after that apply lip moisturizer after each application to moisturize the affected area and keep it from drying and cracking
